Maple Dene is a six-acre parcel of land that consists of a two-acre playground, sports field and meadow, along with four acres of wooded hills, wetlands, and a brook. Both the developed aspects of the land and its natural qualities are used as a learning environment and outdoor classroom to enrich the curriculum with outdoor activities and adventures.
All of the buildings at Maple Dene provide a warm and comfortable atmosphere for learning. Design and renovations have been carried out to develop an optimal environment of structural quality and educational purpose.
The Schoolhouse, a three-storied, colonial farmhouse, is home to Maple Dene Elementary School, for Kindergarten through Sixth Year students. Moppet School, an attached, multi-level carriage house, is fondly known as The Barn and is home to preschoolers, prekindergarteners, and before and after school children. The Spring House, a cozy outbuilding where special events occur throughout the year, offers cookstove warmth in winter and cool breezes in summer.
